The pandemic keeps us from travelling physically, - but nothing keeps us from looking at and talking about what we experienced in the past! That’s why we’d like to invite everybody to join us in “travelling while staying in our arm chair”.

For July, Ralph Blessing will be presenting photos from his many trips and residences in Latin America. Ralph was a Peace Corps volunteer for roughly five years, first in Panama (1969-70) and then in Ecuador (1974-78). Subsequently he moved to D.C. to work at Peace Corps HQ, followed by 20+ years administering Fulbright Scholar programs in Latin America. Occasional work-related travel as well as vacations kept him physically connected to Latin America, always photographing anything that moved or sparkled. His last trip to the region was back to Ecuador 18 months ago, and he was scheduled to return again this May before Covid turned the world upside down. Now, like everyone else, his travels are virtual in nature -- though he does manage to take lots of photos in his garden and even more of his first grandchild, who spends a couple days each week with Ralph and his wife.
