WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR OF FEELING: INTRODUCTION TO POETRY WRITING FOR SENIORS LED BY REGIE CABICO

·      In this 3-part workshop, acclaimed poet Regie Cabico guides participants through creative exercises—like Artful Openings, “Glimmers,” and 2-word poems—to spark personal storytelling and joyful expression.

·      The group will explore works by Langston Hughes, Andrea Gibson, and Yesika Delgado, among others, and end with an open mic and chance to submit to the Mid-Atlantic Review.

·      Open to adults of all experience levels. Limited to 12 participants who can attend all three sessions.

·      Regie Cabico is the first Asian American poet to win the Nuyorican Poets Cafe's Grand Slam, taking top prizes in 3 National Poetry Slams. His work has appeared on MTV, HBO, NPR's Snap Judgement, and two episodes of The Poet Speaks which premiered in 2024. His poetry appears on poets.org, Poetry, Mid Atlantic Review (where he serves as an editor) & Washington Writers Publishing House.  He is the author of A Rabbit in Search of a Rolex (Day Eight, 2023).
